20 Essential travel items- What must you pack for your travels?

Never leave home without packing:

  1. Comfortable walking shoes or plasters and
    painkillers.
  2. Ear plugs can save you many a sleepless
    night.
  3. Lightweight long sleeved shirt or
    windbreaker for protect
    ion
    from the elements.
    Easy
    to dry, light and compressible.
  4. Don’t leave home without sunblock and lip balm.
  5. Zambuck ointment for chapped skin and insect bites
    and just about any irritat
    ion.
  6. Plastic bags to separate wet and dirty
    items from the rest.
  7. Sunglasses and sunhat in summer. Beanie,
    socks and gloves in wintry condit
    ions.
  8. A sarong is an essential. As a multiple
    purpose picnic blanket, jacket, dress, towel, shade cloth, shelter and
    blanket.
  9. Swiss army knife. The screw driver, cork
    screw and blade come in very handy.
  10. String and pegs for washing and rigging up
    make shift shelter.
  11. Torch, so you are not left in the dark. Excellent
    for reading after lights out.
  12. Phrase book or bird book depending on
    whether you are heading into the bush or a foreign city.
  13. Camera and charger to capture those
    precious moments.
  14. Imodium, because there is nothing worse
    than being caught without it.
  15. Water bottle to combat dehydration.
  16. Day bag for short hike and daytrips.
  17. Essential toiletries, such as toothbrush,
    toothpaste and soap.
  18. Alarm clock or cell phone to catch your plane or bus in time.
  19. A money belt and travel documents/passport for logistics.
  20. A hearty sense of humour!
