An aggressive rhino charged a car of Dutch tourists on a game drive in Addo Elephant Park over this past weekend.

This apparently typical rhinoceros behaviour may not surprise park rangers at Addo, but it certainly took the unsuspecting tourists by surprise. The angry rhino flattened the front of the couple’s hired car, smashing the windscreen and then made a hasty retreat into the bush.

Nobody was injured and according to the parks board at Addo Park the enraged rhino was also unharmed by the road rage incident.

Luckily, the rented vehicle must have been insured, as the visitors swiftly got a new rental from the car hire company. Next time you head off on a game viewing drive you may consider checking up on your car insurance or paying that little bit extra for comprehensive coverage if you hire a car. Just in case you fall prey to wildlife road rage in the bush.
