This year however will be even more crowded, according to Shery Ozinsky, CEO designate of Cape Town Routes Unlimited (CTRU), "Annual growth in tourists is up from 5% last year to 8% this year."

Ms. Ozynsky also concludes from the Tourism Statistics that there are three major causes of this growth in tourists coming to Cape Town:

  • The weakening Rand, makes it cheaper for foreigners and to expensive for locals to go abroad.
  • A record number of flights are coming into Cape Town
  • Large group of second or -third time visitors to Cape Town this year (39%)

The Tourism Statistics have also alerted the authorities of Cape Town. The police force has been expanded, and are on high alert for street nuisance. All going well, this is going to be a great summer for Cape Town and the local economy.

And to all tourists visiting Cape Town, welcome and thank you for your money ;)
