Today our own team of Drive South Africa have helped to setup a computer centre at a primary school in the Cape Flats.
The school received a donation of 3 re-furbished computers from an Australian company earlier this year, and with the help of our very own Arne Woudstra and Andre van Kets of Drive South Africa, they now have three functional computers to train the teachers at the school.
The school is set to receive 30 new computers in January 2007; these will then be used to teach the children basic computer skills and to connect them to the Internet.
“We are very excited to assist the teachers and children at Blomvlei. Computer literacy and access to the Internet is a critical part of education. As active members of the Tourism Community Development Trust, we are constantly looking at ways to uplift the communities around Cape Town. This is just one of the trust’s many wonderful initiatives.” said Andre van Kets from Drive South Africa.
Drive South Africa is a member of the Tourism Community Development (TCD) Trust. The TCD Trust consists of a group of local tourism companies who raise funds and initiate sustainable projects that help to empower the local communities of Cape Town.
