Having recently returned from a long stint in South East Asia teaching English in hot and humid places, I was surprised to find a rapidly growing ESL industry back home in South Africa.
Teaching English as a Second Language is fast becoming a very popular career choice for many globetrotters looking for a way to work and see the world at the same time. The burgeoning English Language industry is growing in South Africa too and why not. Cape Town makes for an ideal destination for foreigners to study and travel in.
Cape Town in particular has a growing number of schools catering to foreign students from all over Africa, Europe and Asia. The English Language business is doing increasingly well here, because students get to enjoy all that the exciting and beautiful city has to offer whilst brushing up on their English.
Often students will enrol in language programs that include nearby accommodation and local activities like township tours and sightseeing trips. There are a number of quality ESL schools to choose from right in the centre of Cape Town, where students get a feel for South African culture and experience the vibrant streets. Accommodation is easy to find, transport is also not difficult to organize and students are spoilt for choice when it comes to entertainment, nightlife and eating out.
