As a part their stay in South Africa, my family and me made a roadtrip. Renting a camper we drove Route 62 and the Garden Route, exploring the South African countryside and the beautiful coastline up to Port Elizabeth. And we loved it!

We rented a camper through Drive South Africa, and toured through the countryside on Route 62 staying at campsites along the way. The first couple of days we spend in the Karoo, with its endless plains and plenty of ostriches. We enjoyed the quiet pace of life, good weather and braais.

Leaving the peaceful Karoo behind we drove along the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth where we visited the nearby Addo Elephant Park. For most of my family it was the first time they had seen wild animals, and were thrilled to drive in the camper through this humble but exciting national park. It was a great experience to go on safari with our own camper, and get excited with every wild animal we could find.

From the thrill of the safari we went to the peaceful surroundings of the Tsitsikamma National Park, where we stayed at the Nature’s Valley campsite. The beautiful forests, beaches and lagoons were a perfect place for us to relax and enjoy our vacation. After this little piece of heaven we drove back along the Garden Route, stopping at Plettenberg Bay and Mossel Bay before returning to Cape Town.

For me and my family it was a great experience. The great diversity in landscapes and nature is what makes it such a beautiful place in Africa and on earth!
