Driving to Rundu, a border town with Angola, we spent most of the day in the overlanding truck watching the Namibian countryside and hoped to see the hippo’s at the river.

This is a time to catch up on some reading, time to chat with your fellow travelers and for fun and games. Especially with youngsters on the bus it is great that the time ticks away playing cards and joking around.

As you are overlanding Namibia the countryside can be somewhat boring, but this was a particular nice day with spectacular weather at times. Rain and some nice bushes along the road were quite nice.

Rundu is set on the river which seperates Namibia from Angola. From the outskirts of the village you can see the border town in Angola, and almost swim across. If it wasn’t for the many hippo’s and crocs. The campsite was even guarded for these big grazers.

Arriving at the campsite we headed straight for the swimming pool, for a refreshing dip. After a soaked dinner, with the braai being flooded, most of us headed to the bar for a drink or two.

The next day was another early morning as we had to drive all the way to Maun, Botswana. Another early rise on our overlanding trip, the lovely wake-up call was at 5.30 AM.
