Although landlocked, Uganda has access to several large water bodies, including Lake Victoria, Lake Albert, Lake Kyoga and Lake Edward. The country is located on the East African plateau, averaging about 900 metres (2,950 ft) above sea level.

Although generally tropical in nature, the climate differs between parts of the country. Uganda includes several offshore islands in Lake Victoria. Most important cities are located in the south, near Lake Victoria, including the capital Kampala and the nearby city of Entebbe. Uganda also has several rivers most important of which is the White Nile, one of the world’s longest rivers, whose source is Lake Victoria and whose waters pour into the Mediterranean Sea.

With several game Parks in Uganda most of them among the top game viewing destinations, Uganda is an excellent place for the true African jungle experience. Some of the country’s top game parks include the Queen Elizabeth National park, Murchison Falls National Park and Bwindi National Park. The game viewing potential is stunning and ranges from lions, to elephants, plains game and the giant forest hog.

1. Queen Elizabeth National Park:

Cannot fail to amaze with it’s the enormous diversity creating a visual feast. Activates in the park include boat trips, game drives, a woodland walk or simply enjoy any of the stunning views. Wildlife in the area is plentiful and diverse.

2. The Murchison Falls National Park:

With its variety of vegetation ranging from riparian forests and swamp lands to broad Savannah, provides the opportunity of seeing many of the animals found in Uganda. A launch trip upstream to the falls is one of the great experiences in Africa. Elephant, hartebeest, giraffe, buffalo, crocodiles and countless antelope and birds (including the rare Shoebill stork) can be admired at the water’s edge as the launch glides along.

3. Bwindi National Park:

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a world heritage site and the safest place to track habituated gorillas in Africa. There are also chimpanzees, 90 other mammal species, and countless bird varieties. Other highlights include, tropical rainforests, guided gorilla trekking, birder’s paradise with hundreds of avian species and wondrous butterfly diversity.
